Good Neighbor Dog Training
was founded in 1989 by
Anita Crafton
and
Marti Kincaid. Anita and
Marti teamed up after many years of instructing for the Snake River
Canyon Kennel Club of Idaho and the 4-H program.
Tiffany Piltz joined the
school in 2009.
Anita and Marti are active members and
past board members of the National Association of Dog
Obedience Instructors, Inc. Marti is a past president and has
served on
several NADOI committees. In 2005, NADOI
conferred an Honorary Life Membership on Anita. NADOI is the oldest organization
in the world with standards for endorsing dog obedience instructors.
Marti and Anita bring a background of working with many breeds of dogs
and other animal species. In order to keep on top of whats happening in canine
training, they have attended seminars by Dr. Patricia McConnell, Brenda Aloff, Ian Dunbar, Roy Hunter, Terry Ryan, Turid Rugaas, Karen Pryor, Job Michael Evans, Morgan
Spector, Virginia Broitman, and other leaders in the field of behavior and training.
In 1992, they traveled to England to study behavior with John Rogerson
and others. They have incorporated many of the best ideas to help the
owner-dog relationship.
Tiffany has owned and trained a variety of
dogs, from Chow Chow to Lab to Chihuahua. She competes in NADAC agility with
several dogs, having achieved elite titles with her now semi-retired
retriever, Annie. Her current dog, Kobi, is working at the advanced level
and she has two young dogs started. Besides a lifetime of dog ownership, she
worked at the Twin Falls Animal Shelter for several years. She started as an
assistant 4-H leader in 2006 and then began assisting classes for Good
Neighbor. Currently, she is the lead instructor for agility classes and
helps with the puppy and level I classes. She has attended instructing,
training, and behavior seminars in recent years to prepare for NADOI
membership.
Anita is currently inactive in dog
training but serves the school in a support capacity.
