Sunrise Express 436

Rosie
Crusin’ down ’ol I 80
head’n for the Bay
cruise set at five under
We’ll save some fuel today.
Turn off all the radios,
don’t need all the churr,
keep all the noise down,
just listen to Rosie Purr.
Just as natural as breath’n
my eyes scan Rosie’s dash
Her gauges tell me all is well,
Looks like we’re up to the task.
Load’s a tad bit heavy,
Rosie never seems to mind,
Just let her chew at low RPM
mistake to make her wind.
Up over ole Emigrant,
and over Golconda too,
Those hills can be real nasty,
when winter winds decide to brew.
We slide on through Reno,
and start up the mighty babe,
Rosie gets a throaty sound
when Donner’s in her way.
On thru Sacramento,
that ole historic town,
traffic seems to be okay
we hardly even slow down.
Just past 680,
turn north on Highway 12,
now turn left for 1 mile on 29
and right on Clementine.
90 degree blindside
to back into the docks,
tandems back, and set the air
and don’t forget the chocks.
Empty one hour early,
and we give dispatch a call,
they are like our family,
we all give our all.
Dispatch is glad to hear from us,
and thanks us for our job,
better folks you’ll never find
to steer the Austin’s mob.
I talk to Doug awhile,
and try to write with a near empty pen!
I smile as I kick the air off.
We gotta go do it again!
